Principal’s Post – December 5, 2016

Dear HPCS Parent,

I trust you had a blessed Thanksgiving break and are enjoying the Christmas season! There is more than the usual energy on campus right now as the students (and staff) are getting excited about Christmas break coming soon!

Thank you for praying for those of us caught in the Gatlinburg fire last week. I won’t take the time to tell the story here, but God worked in amazing ways to protect those of us there for our annual planning retreat. We lost many things in the fire, including a couple of vehicles; but it certainly gave us perspective on what is of lasting value and what isn’t, and God’s goodness has been so evident. Please continue to pray for residents who lost homes, businesses, and family in the tragedy.

I’m excited to announce that we plan to have another group of Chinese students with us for a month after we return from Christmas break. We had a group last year and have been anticipating this year’s students for months! Eleven students ranging in ages from 14-16 and one teacher will arrive on January 13 and stay through February 12. They will be a mix of boys and girls along with one female teacher. If you would be interested in hosting a student or teacher, please let Jami Murr in the office know at jamimurr@hamptonpark.org or by calling the office to speak to her. We’ll take hosts on a first-come first-served basis, so please notify Jami quickly if you’re interested.

Please pray this week for the Hallberg family. Mrs. Margie Hallberg, who taught in the lower school here for years, is having surgery at Duke University to remove a tumor on her brain. They are traveling there today, and the surgery is on Wednesday. I know they would appreciate your prayers through the week.

Finally, I wanted to remind you to be sure to select this Amazon.com link, also found on our website, for all your Amazon shopping. The school receives a very generous portion of each purchase for everything you buy using this link. And don’t forget the STEAM fundraiser going on now. We’re up to almost $15,000 raised so far toward STEAM purchases we’d like to make to improve our school. This would make a great end-of-year, tax deductible gift to invest in our children!

Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in educating and discipling your children,

Kevin
