Upcoming Events

Collins Building – Side Door Facing Hall Road

Please be reminded that the Hall Road side door of the Collins Building is now locked in the mornings during normal drop-off. Students should enter the Collins Building through the front doors.

Chess Club – Wednesday, January 24

The Chess Club Interest Meeting that was originally scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, will be rescheduled to Wednesday, January 24, in the library at 3:30 p.m. If your child would like to participate in the Spring Chess Club, please plan to attend this informational meeting. Interested students in grades 1-12 need to fill out a registration form and will be charged $25 for the semester. During the spring semester, the Chess Club will participate in several chess tournaments. Come to the meeting for the details.

SCACS Lower School Piano Solo/Ensembles Run-offs

Due to the school cancellation, the Piano Solo and Piano Ensembles run-offs have been rescheduled to Thursday, January 25.

Lost and Found

This Friday, January 26, is the last day to look through the current Lost and Found items before those items are donated. Please take time to drop by the MAC (A Building) to check for any items belonging to your family.

Baseball Interest Meeting

Boys in grades 7-12 who are interested in playing baseball in the spring should attend the Baseball Interest Meeting on Tuesday, January 30, during the halftime of the Varsity Girls Basketball game. The meeting will be in the Band Room of the Yearick Center and should start around 6:45 p.m. and last for about 15 minutes.

Spirit Week is January 29-February 2

It’s not too late to begin creating costumes for Spirit Week! Spirit Days are as follows:

  • Monday, January 29 – Superhero/Character Day (dress as your favorite superhero or as a famous real-life or fictitious character)
  • Tuesday, January 30 – Mountains vs. Beach (choose to dress as a rock climber or skier OR wear a sundress and bonnet – be creative. Upper School students may wear Bermuda shorts to represent the “Beach,” but may not wear athletic shorts.)
  • Wednesday, January 31 – International Day (dress like a gaucho from Argentina or wear a kilt and carry a bagpipe – the ideas are endless!)
  • Thursday, February 1 – Crazy Day (the name says it all!)
  • Friday, February 2 – Spirit Day (wear Connection Week or Spirit Day shirts)

Please be mindful to keep clothing modest. Upper School students, please remember NO SHORTS allowed with the exception of Bermuda shorts on Mountains vs. Beach day as mentioned above. Upper School students who do not participate in Spirit Week are expected to wear normal school dress.

Spirit Week Photo Booth – Grades 7-12

During break time on Monday through Thursday of Spirit Week (January 29-February 1), the yearbook staff will be taking pictures at a photo booth. The cost is $1 per person in the photo and you may purchase a punch card for $5 that will give you five plus a bonus punch for a total of six punches. The photos will become a part of a special homecoming display or used in the 2018 yearbook. In addition, each person in the picture will receive a 4 x 6 copy of the photo.

Homecoming

Homecoming will take place on Friday, February 2. All HPCS families are encouraged to come enjoy the homecoming festivities!

  • All five basketball teams will play:
    • MS Girls vs. Lead Charter 3:30
    • MS Boys vs. Lead Charter 4:30
    • JV Boys vs. Oconee 5:30
    • Varsity Girls vs. Oconee 6:30
    • Varsity Boys vs. Oconee 7:45
  • An alumni reception will be held in the Blue Room.
  • The Senior Class of 2018 and their parents will be recognized.

Admission to homecoming is free with your complimentary Panther Pass (available in the office). Concessions will be available for purchase (all proceeds benefit the Class of 2018).

Junior-Senior Banquet Dress Check

The date for dress check has been changed to Monday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 6, at 3:15 p.m., with the re-check date moving to Monday, March 26, at 3:30 p.m. If a sophomore or a non-HPCS student has been asked to the Banquet, please go by the office to obtain important information regarding dress guidelines.

SCACS Fine Arts Rehearsal – Public Invited

You are invited to attend the SCACS Fine Arts Rehearsal on Thursday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m., in the Main Auditorium. The Upper School students who are involved in SCACS Fine Arts and will be competing in Columbia are required to attend this rehearsal. The SCACS Fine Arts Festival takes place in Columbia on March 15-16.

General Information

Reflex Math for Grades 1-8

Hampton Park has recently used STEAM monies to purchase Reflex Math for students in Grades 1-8. Reflex Math is a fun, motivating way for students to build facts fluency through the practice of basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. This game-based program continually monitors student progress and adapts to give each student a customized experience. Students can use Reflex Math anywhere there is internet connection and teachers are kept apprised of both usage and progress through program-generated reports. Sickness

This is the season for sickness, so please be reminded to keep sick students home from school until they have been fever-free and symptom-free from the stomach bug for 24 hours.
