Support our Teams – Tonight at BJA
We encourage everyone to head to Bob Jones Academy and support our JV/Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Soccer Teams tonight. Admission to the games is $3 for adults, $2 for students, kids under 5 are free, and there is a maximum charge of $10 per family. The games are as follows:
- JV Girls Volleyball 5:00 (in the Academy gym)
- Varsity Girls Volleyball 6:00 (in the Academy gym)
- Varsity Boys Soccer 7:00 (in Alumni Stadium)
Students in grades 7-12 who attend the games and see a designated staff member (Mrs. Cansler, Mr. Edwards, Mrs. Murr, Dr. Priest or Mrs. Priest) will have a casual dress day (Connection Week attire – shorts and t-shirts) for school on Friday. Friday is a half-day and our Senior Carnival!
Poll Workers Training – Wednesday, October 17
Students who are 16 and above–it’s not too late to register for the Poll Workers Training Class. The class will be held on Wednesday, October 17, from 3:30-6:30 p.m., in M-212. Students must attend a training class in order to work the polls on November 6. Please register as soon as possible at www.greenvillecounty.org/voterregistration as follows:
- Select Poll Worker Training Class Registration
- Enter the training type “student”
- Enter your last name, date of birth, and last four digits of your Social Security Number
- Type the password “young.”
- Finally select “login.”
Lower School students will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, October 18-19, for parent/teacher conferences. There will be no school for K4/K5. Child care will be available at 11:30 a.m. for students in grades 1-6.
Upper School students have a regular schedule on Thursday, October 18, and dismiss at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, October 19.
Lower School Spirit Day!
On Friday, October 19, the Lower School will have a Spirit Day to celebrate Senior Carnival! Students in grades 1-6 should wear their class shirts.
Senior Carnival is Friday, October 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Lunch tickets (pizza, chips and drink) are $4 and game tickets are $2.
- Lunch tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, October 17.
- Since October 19 is a half day, Lower School students will need to have adult supervision at the Carnival, or they may stay for late stay and be charged accordingly.
Lost and Found
You may be on campus this week for a Parent/Teacher Conference, Senior Carnival, or simply dropping off your child. While on campus, take time to visit Lost and Found to claim items belonging to your family. Lost and Found is located in the MAC (A Building) to the left of the fireplace. Please plan to visit by Friday, October 26, as Lost and Found items are donated to charity after the last Friday of every month.
Retired Athletic Team Uniform Sale
On October 30-31, students will have the opportunity to purchase old baseball jerseys, soccer shirts, basketball tanks, and more for $1-$2 a piece. The Tuesday Moms will have the uniforms displayed in the MAC (A Building) and will be selling the retired uniforms during lunch.
Lunch Room Recipe Contest
Continue sending in your favorite bowl recipes for the Bowl Recipe Contest. Please email recipes to firstname.lastname@example.org. The contest deadline is October 31.
Bob Jones Festival
The Bob Jones University Festival (BJ Fest) will be held October 30-November 1 for students in grades 9-12 who are competing in various fine arts categories. Permission Forms are on RenWeb under WebForms.
Lower School Soccer Camp
Lower School Soccer Camp will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, November 5, 7, and 8. Students in grades 3-6 will receive details later in October.
Lower School Sword Drill
Parents are invited to attend the Lower School Sword Drill for students in grades 4-6. The sword drill will be held in the Collins Auditorium on Friday, November 9, at 1:30 p.m. Parents should enter the Collins Building through the side door facing the Brown Building.
Lower School Speech Runoffs
Students in grades 2-6 who are interested in participating in SCACS in a speech category should be prepared to say the poem for the appropriate grade on Tuesday, November 13. The poems are located on RenWeb under Resource Documents.
Panthers in Action
Congratulations, Panthers! At the SCACS Cross Country State Meet on Saturday, the boys won 2nd place and the girls won 1st place (for the third year in a row). Out of the 18 students on the team, 13 set a personal record with some slashing times by up to 2 minutes, and 9 of the students were in the top 10 finishers. Anna Claire Patterson took first place for the girls and Jackson Vierow won first place for the boys. What a great season!

Students who plan to try out for a basketball team must have Pre-Participation Athletic Forms Part 1 and 2 on file in the office. Forms are on RenWeb under Resource Documents or in the school office. Current lists of students with physical forms on file are posted on the bulletin boards in the Main Building and have been given to Mrs. Luttrell and Mr. McAdams.
Senior Trip Fundraising – Papa Johns Coupon Books
The seniors are selling Papa Johns Coupon Books for $10 each. The book includes a coupon for a free pizza, which pays for the coupon book! Look for a Senior (or Band Member) or pick up a Papa Johns Coupon Book in the school office. Please pay in cash.
