General Information
Inclement Weather Policy
With the possibility of wintry weather in our forecast, please note that we do not necessarily follow the Greenville Country School system, who because of bussing and a variety of other factors may make different decisions than we would regarding schedule. Our inclement weather policy is as follows:
Announcements regarding school closings, delays, and early dismissals due to inclement weather will be posted via email, website, RenWeb, Facebook, Twitter, text, and through WYFF News 4 (online and on television). WYFF will typically not announce when HPCS is on a regular schedule.
When school opens late, kindergarten classes will not meet. In the event of a early closing, parents should pick up their children as quickly as possible. HPCS will supervise all students until their rides arrive.
School closures due to inclement weather are always motived by concern for the safety of school families, and these decisions are often very difficult, especially since road conditions can vary dramatically across the region. The challenge is always safety concerns vs. the inconvenience of parents needing to be home with children not in school, and the administration does its best to weigh these factors. If parents believe road conditions in their area are unsafe for travel and notify the school office, even if school is in session, students will not receive an unexcused absence for missing school.
