Principal’s Post – May 3, 2019 – Walkathon

Dear HPCS Parent,

I wanted to remind you of the Walkathon coming up this Tuesday, May 7. Two years ago was our very first Walkathon as part of our “STEAM Powered” theme for the year. We not only reached but far exceeded our fundraising goals to help us increase what we were able to provide in STEAM resources. We were able to purchase mobile computer and iPad labs, Promethean smartboards for nearly every classroom, and numbers of other technology, science, math, and fine arts resources.

For this Walkathon, we wanted to focus on athletics and fine arts. Specifically, we want to be able to purchase some additional band instruments for our band program and improve the outdoor athletic facilities our students use on a daily basis, including playground improvements that will benefit the lower school kids and athletic field improvements that will benefit our upper school students and athletic teams.

Please take some time this weekend to encourage your children to reach out for those final pledges from friends, family, neighbors, and businesses who might want to promote your child’s physical fitness as well as support our school in improving what we can offer our students in athletics and fine arts. We have some great prizes for the students who go above and beyond in fundraising and some exciting class prizes to the classes who work hard to help us reach our goal. My hope is to raise an average of $100 per student, which would put us on par with fundraising two years ago. If we can hit that target, we can make some great progress in improving these two important extracurricular aspects of the HPCS experience.

Thank you for your efforts to encourage your children to participate in improving physical fitness through the Walkathon and help their school through fundraising. Have a wonderful weekend,
