SCACS Fine Arts Registration – November 1-15

Students in grades 1-12 who are interested in competing in a solo or duet fine arts category at the SCACS Elementary School Festival on March 6, 2020, or the SCACS High School Festival on March 19-20, 2020, should register online. Click here to register now through November 15.

Thanksgiving Program and Lunch

Please be a part of our Lower School Thanksgiving Program on Thursday, November 21, in the Main Auditorium. A special Thanksgiving Lunch will follow the program. You may begin making your lunch reservation on Friday, November 15, and should be ordered in FACTS Family Portal (ParentsWeb) as follows:

  • Select “Student”
  • Click on “Lunch”
  • Click on pulldown menu for Date and choose 11/21/2019
  • Click on “+Create Web Order”
  • Enter quantity
    • If ordering for guests who are not HP students, enter total number of lunches in the correct age group under the student’s name that the guests will be eating lunch with.
    • Free lunches for children 3 and below may only be ordered when ordering an adult lunch (1 free lunch per 1 adult lunch)
  • When order is complete, click on “Order Items”
  • When student and/or guests attend the lunch, the Food Service workers will confirm the reservation.

Reservations are required by Tuesday, November 19.

Mid-Quarter Reports (Grades 4-12)

Mid-quarter reports for students in grades 4-12 will be available on November 13.

The Prince and the Pauper by Anne Coulter Martens

Ticket sales for the Panther Players’ presentation of The Prince and the Pauper by Anne Coulter Martens begin on Wednesday, November 20. This play, adapted from the book by Mark Twain, is appropriate for all ages.

  • The tickets will be sold before (8:00-8:30 a.m.) and after (3:15-3:40 p.m.) school in the Main Building (M Building) by the offices.
  • The performances will be held on Thursday, December 5, and Friday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, December 7, at 2:00 p.m.
  • Ticket prices are $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for non-HPCS students, and $3.00 for HPCS students. You may pay by cash or check (payable to HPCS).

Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuits

Mark your calendars for the upcoming dates that the senior class will be selling Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits: November 26 and December 10. The biscuits are $3.00 each and will be sold at all of the regular drop-off locations on campus from 7:30-8:20 a.m.

Chinese Exchange Students

Families are still needed to help host the Chinese exchange students between January 13 and February 12. If you are interested in hosting or have questions about this special opportunity, please email Dr. Priest at kevinpriest@hamptonpark.org.

Thanksgiving Break

There will be no school or child care on November 27-29 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Project

Thank you for your generous giving for the Thanksgiving Project! We had a goal of purchasing 500 foil pans for Miracle Hill’s Turkey Dinner, and you donated $1,897.95! The amount of $1,250 which is above our goal will be given to Miracle Hill in additional to the foil pans – what a way to bless this ministry. Which grade brought in the most money? THIRD GRADE won with a total of $460.21 donated.

 SCACS Lower School Speech Runoffs

Speech Runoffs will be held on November 19 from students in grades 2-6 who are interested in participating in SCACS in a speech category. Please remember to register online by November 15.

Lower School Spelling Bees

Parents are invited to attend the Lower School Spelling Bees in the Collins Auditorium (C Building) on Tuesday, November 26. The quizzing will begin at 9:00 a.m. for the students in grades 2-3 and 1:30 p.m. for grades 4-6. Guests do not need to sign in at the office and should enter the Collins Building through the side door facing the Brown Building and playground.

Upper School Only

Lands’ End Starboard Scholarship

Students in grades 6-12 who display exceptional leadership skills are eligible to receive the $10,000 Lands’ End Starboard Scholarship. Up to seven scholarships will be awarded to students who are in a Preferred School, like Hampton Park. Don’t wait to apply for this special scholarship! Applications are accepted through December 13, 2019, or until 3,000 applications are submitted. Click here to start your application!

Providence Tournament

Our Varsity Basketball teams will be traveling to Johnson City, Tennessee, on November 15-16, to compete at the Providence Tournament. The teams will leave campus at 12:30 p.m. The permission form is on FACTS Family Portal (ParentsWeb) under WebForms and must be approved by Wednesday, November 13.

Varsity Girls Soccer Off-Season Training

Girls in grades 9-12 who are interested in trying out for spring soccer are invited to attend the off-season training. The first training date is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the gym. Upcoming dates in December for off-season training are December 4 and 18, from 3:35-4:45 p.m., in the gym.

Basketball Team GroupMe App

If your child is a student on a basketball team, use this link to enter the GroupMe team chats. Parents can download the “GroupMe” App and sign up for each of your child’s teams. This is a great way to communicate with the coach, see up-to-date information about game time changes, find out what time a team will return to HPCS from an away game, and more.

Sickness Policy

As we enter the season of increased sickness, please be reminded to keep sick students home from school until symptom-free from the stomach bug and fever-free for 24 hours.

Volunteer Spotlight – Picture Day Helpers

Picture Day Helpers assist the photographer with various tasks, keeping the photographer on schedule by taking students from class to picture location and back to class. While we only need Picture Day Helpers three times throughout the school year, their assistance is invaluable! Thank you to the following who helped on picture day this year:

Volunteer(s) Needed – We are looking for a volunteer (or two) to provide entrance to the Spelling Bees on Tuesday, November 26. The bees are at 9:00 a.m. (grades 2-3) and 1:30 p.m. (grades 4-6), so we need a volunteer to open the Collins Building door and greet parents from 8:40-9:10 a.m. and another volunteer from 1:10-1:40 p.m. Respond to this email if you are able to help.
